Arizona Nurse Leader Academy

Take Your Nursing Career to the Next Level

In 2015, nurse leaders throughout Arizona formed a search group to find the perfect leadership product that could prepare new nurse leaders and support seasoned nurse leaders.
We are happy to announce our partnership with Capstone Leadership Solutions and the Arizona Nurses Association.


The academy has been designed to meet the needs of not only entry level but experienced nurse leaders. Competencies defined from the Arizona Nurse Leader Education Needs Assessment as well as those defined in AONE’s nurse manager skills inventory were used to design the content.  Since Communication & Relationship Building was identified as a most important leadership competency required for successfully leading individuals, teams, and organizations, Day 1 of each Summit will have a primary focus on these topics.

Registration and Fees


Individual Attendee Fee: $495 per 2-day summit


Group Rate: $395 per attendee per 2-day summit, 3 attendee minimum


Group rate not available through online registration.  Organizations wishing to register & submit payment for 3 or more attendees must use a group registration form.  Email completed form to


Group Rate is not applicable to nurses/attendees who may have previously registered outside of the Group Rate Form. Rate is applicable to new registrations ONLY.


Cancellation Insurance is available through individual online registration.  No refunds for cancellations


Transfer Policy: Transfers requested up to 5 days prior to the Summits will incur a $200 processing fee.  No transfers will be processed less than 5 days prior to the summit.




The academy consists of two separate summits held back to back:   


Summit 1 – Managing for Success

Designed for an audience of charge/supervisory/manager nurses, but would also greatly benefit any level of nurse leader or emerging leader.


Summit 2 – Leading for Success 

Designed for an audience of manager/director/executive level nurse leaders.

Jane McLeod, RN, MSN, cofounder of Capstone Leadership Solutions, has worked in the healthcare industry for more than thirty years—as a nurse in oncology, emergency, and critical care, and the majority of her career in frontline and senior leadership roles. She leads with passion by "walking the talk" and uses humor and storytelling to enhance her servant leadership. Jane holds a Master’s Degree in Nursing with a certification in Healthcare Administration from Regis University in Denver, Colorado.

Sue Tetzlaff, RN, RHIA, MHA, FACHE, cofounder of Capstone Leadership Solutions, has served in healthcare leadership positions for more than twenty years, as a chief nursing officer, interim CEO, and chief operating officer. She attacks her work with energy, positivity, passion, and a belief that mediocrity can be replaced by excellence. She earned her Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota and is Board Certified and a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.



 Continuing Education

  • The Leadership Academy provides nursing continuing education contact hours.
  • The Western Multi-State Division Provider Unit is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation.
  • Conference Goal:  Nurse leaders/managers will have a better understanding of the practice of managing and leading others with proper training and education. 
  • Target audience: Nurses
  • Participants must attend the entire event to receive contact hours. A CE certificate will be provided at the end of each Summit.
