Heidi Sanborn, DNP, RN, CNE
President

Heidi Sanborn has served on the AzNA Board of Directors since 2018 in both the Vice President and President positions.  Prior to serving at the state level, she served as President of Chapter 6, the Nurse Educator Special Interest Group.  She has been actively involved with the American Nurses Association as well, serving as AzNA Member Representative and on the Nominations and Elections Committee.  Heidi is passionate about health policy and nursing workforce issues in the state of Arizona and is dedicated to amplifying the nursing voice with stakeholders across the state and health disciplines to ensure the support that nurses need to deliver high-quality and safe care.

Heidi works as a Clinical Associate Professor and Senior Director for the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation post-licensure programs at Arizona State University. She teaches in both the BSN and MS in Nursing Education programs and mentors students in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program.  She has leadership experience in both clinical and academic settings and uses her understanding of complex adaptive systems to launch and grow programs through academic and practice partnerships. 

Heidi serves as subject matter expert for Quality Matters peer reviews, is a peer reviewer for multiple publishers and journals, and has earned the designation as a Certified Nurse Educator.  She has authored textbooks, publications and presentations and consults on topics around interprofessional leadership, nursing education, and practice in a variety of national and international forums.
