Amanda Foster, MSN, APRN, FNP-C
President- Elect
I am honored to serve AzNA, driven by my dedication to equity and advocacy for my colleagues, patients, and the profession. My role as a bedside nurse deepened my commitment to caring for those often marginalized, especially during the COVID outbreak. This commitment continues in my current position as a Nurse Practitioner, where I care for underserved communities, and as a nurse educator, preparing future nurses to lead with intention and empathy.
Throughout my career, I’ve advanced equity and inclusion by advocating at the Capitol, mentoring emerging leaders, and creating spaces where all voices are heard. Resilient leadership must be inclusive and action-oriented. My approach is grounded in compassion, strategy, and a willingness to tackle challenges head-on, thereby strengthening our profession and the communities we serve.
I bring over a decade of leadership experience with AzNA, including two terms as Secretary and currently serving a second term as Secretary of the Nurse Practitioner Council. These roles have reinforced my conviction in the importance of flexible, forward-thinking leadership. As the founder and inaugural president of the Emerging Nurse Professionals, I developed early leadership pathways and cultivated a community for new nurses. I’ve also spent ten years mentoring future leaders as a consultant to the Student Nurses Association of Arizona.
Nationally, I serve as Chair of the ANA Bylaws Committee and previously led the Nominations and Elections Committee during critical periods of change within the association. This deepened my expertise in governance and policy while building strategic connections to strengthen AzNA’s influence.
As President-Elect, my focus will be on increasing membership, enhancing mentorship, and broadening professional development. I am committed to transparent, inclusive leadership and nurse-led advocacy. Together, we can build a robust and united future for nursing, centered around empowerment, connection, and inclusive leadership, ensuring a bright future for AzNA.
