Early into the COVID-19 crisis, AzNA formed an Arizona Nurses Rapid Response Team, with the goal of identifying issues impacting nurses statewide and actions to implement for the safety of those nurses and communities. Through this work, rapid response team members Heather M. Ross, Stephanie Desiderio, Tomi St. Mars and Paulette Rangel published a commentary titled, "US Immigration Policies Pose Threat to Health Security During COVID-19 Pandemic" in the journal, Health Security. Our highly engaged, volunteer Board of Trustees is hard at work creating and establishing meaningful relationships with individuals and organizations that support AzFFN's mission and focus areas. In partnership with the Cactus Pine Girl Scouts we delivered over 10,000 cases (120,000) boxes of girl scout cookies! In partnership with Better Place Forests, our fallen heroes will have a memorial garden in Flagstaff Arizona! In partnership with the March of Dimes, AzFFN is sponsoring the Distinguished Nurse of the Year Award! Finally, oops! can’t reveal another exciting partnership! The American Nurses Foundation is launching a program to send text messages to offer nurses resources and support in 17 states to combat the mass exodus of nurses from the profession.
The pilot program was launched in Arizona that sent text messages to 4,000 of the 95,000 nurses who opted to receive messages. More than 86 percent of nurses strongly agreed or agreed they found the text resources useful for improving their well-being, and 91 percent of nurses said the number of texts they received were the right amount, the release said.
