Updated: Thursday, January 28, 2021

Banner University Medical Center Phoenix has earned their fourth Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.  They were recognized for three exemplars that highlight excellence in nursing practice.  They are:

1.The Opioid Assistance Referral Line – cited for delivering care to the hospital and community, services include prescribing guidance, crisis intervention, naloxone education and substance abuse and behavioral health treatment resources. These efforts cover the entire state and are innovative, well developed and exemplary.

2. The Ambulatory hospital-based outpatient centers outperformed the national benchmark for preventing patient falls for 8 consecutive quarters.

3. The Transfer of Accountability process to improve RN to RN safe handoff of care was cited as an outstanding example of the organization’s commitment to relentless improvement. Patient and family members express feeling reassured by this and it results in family feeling comfortable enough to leave the hospital to get some rest.
