Friday, November 30 - Saturday, December 1, 2018 | Phoenix, AZ
Arizona Geriatric Society presents the 30th Annual Fall Symposium. Trauma takes many forms: childhood maltreatment, medical trauma related to chronic medical conditions, serious accidents, natural disasters, experiences with war and terrorism, domestic violence, unresolved catastrophic events, historical trauma in a cultural context, loss or abandonment. The AzGS Fall Symposium will inter weave aspects of trauma informed care into a variety of presentations including brain injury, dementia, precision medicine and bio markers, as well as presentations on the legal aspects of elder abuse and neglect, reporting considerations, and the impact of guardianship and court-ordered treatment. Models of care, resource management, treatment approaches, skills, strategies and the role of spirituality will be explored to help trauma survivors and caregivers overcome the challenges of the healing process.
