The Vilcek Foundation and The Arnold P. Gold Foundation are pleased to share an open call for nominations for the 2023 Vilcek-Gold Award for Humanism in Healthcare. As an organization invested in public health, healthcare, and well-being, we encourage you to share this award opportunity with your constituents.
The Vilcek-Gold Award recognizes a foreign-born healthcare or public health professional for their outstanding contributions to humanistic and community-centered healthcare in the United States. The award includes an unrestricted $10,000 cash prize and will be presented at the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) annual meeting in November 2023.
The award is a joint initiative of the Vilcek Foundation and the Arnold P. Gold Foundation intended to recognize, celebrate, and draw attention to the vital impact that immigrants have on healthcare, public health, and community care in the United States.
Immigrants make up a larger proportion of doctors, nurses, and health aides in the United States than persons born within the United States. This award recognizes and celebrates the unique value and perspective that immigrants and foreign-born workers have to our communities and to our society.
Eligible nominees must have been born outside of the United States to non-American parents, and be living and working full time in public health, medicine, or healthcare in the United States. Nominees' work should demonstrate a commitment to the values of humanism in healthcare: medically excellent care that honors the individual experiences, needs, and values of patients and communities.
Nominations for the 2023 Vilcek-Gold Award for Humanism in Healthcare may be made through January 31, 2023, 5:00 pm EST. The nomination form and eligibility details are available at gold-foundation.org.
Nominees will be reviewed by a panel of distinguished medical and health experts, and the recipient of the Vilcek-Gold Award for Humanism in Healthcare will be announced in June 2023.
