Hypersensitivity Reactions Including Anaphylaxis

Patients treated with XENPOZYME have experienced hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis. Appropriate medical support measures, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation equipment, should be readily available during XENPOZYME administration. If a severe hypersensitivity reaction (e.g., anaphylaxis) occurs, XENPOZYME should be discontinued immediately, and appropriate medical treatment should be initiated.In patients with severe hypersensitivity reaction, a desensitization procedure to XENPOZYME may be considered.

Dr. Jose Angel Camacho was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where he attended college at the University of Puerto Rico (BS in Chemistry) and medical school at the Universidad Central del Caribe (MD). In retrospect, it was during those years of study in Puerto Rico when he developed a passion for chemistry and biochemistry and eventually biochemical genetics.  He trained in Pediatrics at the University of Missouri-Columbia and in Biochemical Genetics at the Johns Hopkins University Hospital.  Throughout his career, Dr. Camacho has worked in different states (NY, MD, OK, MT, CA, PA MO & IA) and institutions. Prior to working in the field of biochemical genetics, Dr. Camacho completed a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at the Long Island Jewish Hospital in NY but a family tragedy led him to make a career change into the field of biochemical genetics. Currently, at Loma Linda Children’s Hospital where Dr. Camacho works with many patients who live in the desert of the Inland Empire (Riverside and San Bernardino counties), his appreciation of the pathophysiological connection among the urea cycle, the mitochondria and lysosomal storage disorders, in particular Fabry disease, has strengthened.
