Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) of Opioid Use Disorders (OUD) involves a combination of medications that targets the brain, and psychosocial interventions (e.g., counseling, skills development) aimed at improving treatment outcomes. Research shows that medications and therapy together may be more successful than either treatment method alone.

The training is being offered to MDs, DOs, NPs, PAs and others statewide:

• Physicians require 8 hours of training to apply for a waiver from the Drug Enforcement Agency to prescribe buprenorphine
• Nurse Practitioners (NP) and Physician Assistance (PA) are required to complete 24 hours of training. The 8 hour MAT training will count toward the 24 hours. The additional 16 hours can be completed on-line at https://pcssnow.org/education-training/mat-training/
• This course has been reviewed and is acceptable for 8.0 credits of AOA Category 1A by the AOA CCME.
• This course has also been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 8.00 Prescribed credit(s) by the American Academy of Family Physicians. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award.
