On April 18th, Samantha Roecker, BSN-RN, MSC a nurse at nurse at Penn Medicine and a full-time FNP student at the UPenn School of Nursing, will be entered into the record books during this year’s Boston Marathon! She will attempt to break the established Guinness World Record of “fastest marathon run in a nurses’ uniform” at the 2022 Boston Marathon.
Being a passionate advocate for nurses’ physical and mental health, having experienced anxiety, witnessing firsthand the mental burnout and exhaustion from her nurse colleagues Samantha has decided to partner with the American Nurses Foundation. Samantha’s choice to partner with the Foundation is specifically for its programs supporting mental health and wellness of nurses, an issue that is personally meaningful to her based on her experience as a nurse. Join The Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments (ANHE) and Arizona nurse and environmental advocate Felicia French for 1 hour on April 5th at 8am or April 7th at 4pm to learn about, and discuss, the intersection of climate and health. Discuss climate concerns specific to Arizonans, how they impact public health, and what nurses can do about it! Network and learn strategies from ANHE staff and local Arizona nurses on how to advocate for healthy patients and healthy environments. ANA has developed a Safe Patient Handling and Mobility (SPHM) Survey in collaboration with Hill Rom, a medical device manufacturer. The purpose of the survey is to learn more about the injury history and practices while mobilizing patients. It is open to all health professionals so please share this survey with your colleagues and networks. For questions contact practice@ana.org.
