AzNA: NCSBN Scam Phone Calls

Posted By Debby Wood, Friday, February 21, 2020
Updated: Thursday, February 20, 2020
NCSBN has been made aware that some individuals have received telephone calls from persons falsely claiming to be NCSBN staff or law enforcement.
NCSBN has been made aware that some individuals have received telephone calls from persons falsely claiming to be NCSBN staff or law enforcement. These scam phone calls have “spoofed” NCSBN telephone numbers, and therefore appear to originate from NCSBN. We have been told that the tone of these calls may be hostile, and in some cases scammers have falsely claimed that a specific action is needed to prevent a nursing license from becoming suspended. We understand that these incidents are similar to recent scam calls targeting other organizations.
As a reminder, NCSBN will never call a nurse, nurse applicant or anyone else requesting personal information. Please be wary of these scam calls and do not provide personal information over the phone to anyone you do not know or trust.
If you receive a suspicious call about issues with your nursing license, please confirm your license status for free at  nursys.com or contact your board of nursing.
