Wendy Knefelkamp, CAE

Wendy Knefelkamp has been with AzNA since January of 2014. She is a graduate of Northern Arizona University, Summa Cum Laude, and has held positions as Administrative Support for the American Automobile Association, Backoffice Account Representative for Eastside Church, and successfully ran her own business for almost ten years.

She served as Communications Manager at AzNA for 5 years before moving into the role of Director of Operations in January 2020. Her goal is to develop an association that serves both it's members and the nursing profession in equal measure, while making responsible decisions that put AzNA as a thought leader in associations across the country.

Rhonda Anderson, DNSc(h), MPA, BS, RN, FAAN, LFACHE, FACHT

Dr. Anderson is currently a healthcare consultant for RMA Consulting of Arizona and a consultant/surveyor for Global Healthcare Accreditation. From 2009 to 2016, she was Chief Executive Officer of Cardon Children's Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona, a Banner Health hospital. Prior to that she held CEO, COO and CNO positions for healthcare organizations in the East Coast, Midwest and Southwest. In addition to serving as the Joint Commission Commissioner for nine years and on the American Hospital Association Board of Trustees for three years, she was on the Board of the Joint Commission International, the quality Committee and public policy committee of the Childrens Hospital Association, The Coordinating Committee of the Measure Application Partnership at NQF for 7 years and was the ACHE Regent for Arizona.

Dr. Anderson is a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and a member of American Hospital Association Committee of Performance Improvement and ACHEs Programs, Products and Services Committee.  She chairs the AZNA foundation board and is a member of the AONE Foundation. She is a board member of Health Forum, Childrens Action Alliance, Arizona Perinatal Trust, Healing the Children, Ryan House, American Nurses Credentialing Center and Chamberlain University.  She is in the NQF Medicaid Child measurement task force, the ACHE products and services committee, the Make a Wish physician engagement committee, and chairs the AONE CEO search committee. She serves her church as an elder and executive committee member, chairs the personnel committee and the organ committee.

 

Dr. Anderson has received a number of awards for her service to the nursing and business communities. In addition to receiving the Distinguished Achievement Award from Arizona State University College of Nursing, Dr. Anderson was a selected participant in The First International Institute: Executive Nurse Leadership in the United Kingdom and the United States, Florence Nightingale Trust in London, England. She was awarded the American Organization of Nurse Executives Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006. Dr. Anderson was named Arizona Business Magazine's 2012 Healthcare Leadership Award "Hospital Executive of the Year" and one of their “Fifty Most Influential Women in Arizona Business.”

Treasurer

Tim Mislan, MS, BSN, BS, NEA-BC

Tim Mislan is a well accomplished executive with 20 plus years of experience leading others in healthcare settings to higher levels of engagement and performance. Tim has held a variety of leadership roles in acute care, acute rehabilitation care, subacute care and long term care settings. He has mastered the art of leading and inspiring large groups of diversified healthcare professionals in complex settings which include both academic and community. He currently serves as the Chief Nursing Officer/Vice President of Patient Care Services at HonorHealth Scottsdale Thompson Peak Medical Center, a 120 bed community hospital in Scottsdale Arizona, as they have earned a 5 Star rating by CMS, Grade A with Leapfrog and the 3rd best teaching hospital in the US by Fortune/IBM Watson.

Tim's expertise is focused in leading complex projects over extended periods of time, relationship building in complicated organizational structures, optimizing operations in challenging situations and visioning/strategy development. Noteworthy achievements include numerous new business relationships and developments in neurology, oncology, rehabilitation, wound care, pain management, obstetrics, pediatrics and emergency services. He has served multiple times as the chief clinical officer for small and large scale healthcare building projects including the construction of a $13 million clinical learning institute which housed a new school of nursing on a community hospital's campus.

Tim holds a Master of Science Degree in Biochemistry (University of Alabama), a BSN (University of Oklahoma) and a BS Degree in Biology (Bowling Green State University). He is an accomplished leader in Lean and Six Sigma performance improvement methodology, Just Culture analysis and is Board Certified in Advanced Nursing Administration from ANCC, an active member of AONE and ANA and licensed registered nurse in multiple states.

Scholarship Chair

Sharon Rayman, MS, RN

Ms. Rayman's experience spans a period of 49 years as a registered nurse, 45 years in the Phoenix area. Her clinical expertise is in the field of renal dialysis and solid organ transplant. She has held various leadership, management, and faculty  positions.

Ms. Rayman is an active member of the Arizona Nurses Association and has held various leadership positions within the Arizona Nurses Association and Nu Upsilon Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International.

Kimberly Behrens-Grieser

Mrs. Kimberly Grieser has over 30 years of experience in fundraising and nonprofit management and currently is the Owner and President of Behrens & Associates, LLC, a consulting firm assisting non-profit and for-profit organizations with their annual fundraising initiatives, helping them to become more strategic, effective and efficient.

Before starting her own consulting company in 2015, she was the Vice President of Development for Banner Health Foundation from 2011-December 2014, where she managed the Foundation’s special events, pediatrics, planned giving and foundation and corporate giving departments.   Her focus was to secure and steward charitable contributions to advance Banner Health’s mission to make a difference in people’s lives through excellent patient care.

Prior to Banner Health Foundation, Mrs.Grieser was the Director of Development for Phoenix Children's Hospital (PCH) Foundation from 2004-2011, managing and supervising the special events department, Children's Miracle Network partnership and acquisition and stewardship of corporate partners and major gift donors.

Prior to PCH, Mrs. Grieser held leadership positions at Childhelp USA as the Director of Chapter Relations from 1997-2004 and Arizona Special Olympics as the Director of Sports and Training from 1989-1997.

Mrs. Grieser has lived in Phoenix most of her life and received her Bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Resources from the University of Arizona in 1987.  She is an active member of the community and a member of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy.

Pat Mews, RN, MHA, CNOR

Pat is a Perioperative Services Management Consultant with over 30 years of diversified experience within Surgical Services, with degrees in Nursing, Health Care Administration, and Certification in Perioperative Nursing. Her background includes Director of Perioperative Services, Surgical Sales Representative, Clinical Manager, OR Educator, Specialty Team Leader, Staff Nurse and OR Business Manager.

Her consulting projects focus on total Surgical Services Management, including operational efficiencies, patient flow/throughput, management development, and surgery block scheduling. She works closely with administration and the department of surgical services directing and facilitating project teams utilizing LEAN Methodology. Pat implements change to improve processes, and streamline, standardize, and increase efficiencies in order to deliver improved patient outcomes and patient, physician and staff satisfaction.

As an Interim Director of Perioperative Services her span of responsibility includes all Perioperative Services – Operating Room, Perianesthesia Area that includes: (Preadmission screening/testing, Day of Surgery admitpost anesthesia care unit (PACU), Second stage recovery,) Endoscopy and Sterile Processing Department.

She is a member of the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN), and Leadership Specialty Assembly. She is a past member of the AORN Foundation Board of Trustees, has served on several AORN's National Task Forces, including "Perioperative Efficiency Task Force and “Patient Engagement Task Force” and is past chair of the Arizona State Council of Operating Room Nurses (AZSCORN). She is a member of AzNA/ANA and a member of AzNA Foundation Board of Trustees, and AzONE. She has presented at several national and local conferences, has been published in nursing journals and is a contributing author to perioperative nursing texts.

Mews earned her Masters in Health Care Administration from Webster University, St Louis, a BS in Healthcare Management from University of Detroit and an ADN from Macomb College, MI.

Fran Roberts, PhD, RN, FAAN

Fran Roberts is the executive leader of the Fran Roberts Group LLC, a consulting organization providing expertise on healthcare leadership and higher education. Dr. Roberts is also a Professor of Integrated Care and Gerontology at the University Of Arizona College Of Medicine – Phoenix.

Dr. Roberts is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and is the recipient of an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from A. T. Still University of Health Sciences. She has received numerous awards for her leadership in nursing and healthcare and is a vocal proponent of addressing nursing and other healthcare workforce shortages. Her clinical areas of expertise include rehabilitation, rheumatology, community mental health/psychiatry and long term care/gerontology.

Melanie Logue, PhD, DNP, APRN, CFNP, FAANP

Dr. Melanie Logue is the president of Chamberlain University's Phoenix campus. She brings 28 years of academic, administrative, research and clinical experience to the role. Prior to joining Chamberlain, Dr. Logue held a range of leadership and academic positions, most recently serving as a director of nursing operations at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences.Earlier in her career, her extensive tenure at Grand Canyon University included serving as a Doctor of Nursing Practice program chair, assistant dean of graduate studies, dean of the College of Nursing and Health Care Professions, and a professor teaching in both undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. Additionally, Dr. Logue completed a two-year post-doctoral appointment at the University of Arizona as a Clinical Outcomes and Comparative Effectiveness Research Fellow in the Health Outcomes and Practice Effectiveness (HOPE) Research Center and served as a clinical assistant professor. She is a published researcher in areas such as health information technologies and care transitions and co-authored a book chapter on interprofessional education.

On the practice side, Dr. Logue has worked as a primary care provider for 22 years serving different populations and communities in her native state of Arizona and California. Before her role as a family nurse practitioner, she worked as a nurse in trauma, neurological and medical/surgical intensive care units, multi-level pediatrics, and emergency departments across the Valley. She also worked in pediatric home health and volunteered at an asthma camp for children, Camp Not-A-Wheeze.

Dr. Logue is actively engaged in several professional organizations, including the American Nurses Association, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Arizona Nurses Association Political Action Committee and Sigma Theta Tau International. She served as president for the nurse educator chapter of the Arizona Nurses Association and was appointed to the Arizona State Board of Nursing where she served for two years. Among her awards, Dr. Logue was recognized as the 2020 March of Dimes Arizona Nurse Educator of the Year and one of Arizona Business Magazine’s 2016 Most Influential Women in Business. She is also a fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Dr. Logue earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Grand Canyon University and a Master of Science with a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner from Arizona State University. She also holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice and Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing, both from the University of Arizona.

John Bowles, PhD, RN, CENP

John currently serves as Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer for HonorHealth’s John C. Lincoln Medical Center. Prior to HonorHealth, John served for 3 years as Associate Vice President for Patient Care Services and Associate Chief Nursing Officer of Virginia Commonwealth University Health System, leading the Medicine, Surgery, Cardiology and Transplant nursing services. He also served 17 year in various leadership and clinical roles at Yuma Regional Medical Center. John has also held adjunct faculty positions with VCU School of Nursing and Arizona State University College of Nursing and Health Innovations. John has over 20 years of nursing experience and hospital operations leadership with an emerging focus on Lean Management Systems to develop innovative healthcare delivery models. His research focus began with vulnerable populations with a focus on U.S.-Mexico border health issues and has gradually shifted to nursing leadership with purposeful use of influence, innovation and advocacy. John has presented research and evidenced based practice at local, state, regional and national professional conferences.
