Hello and welcome to the East Valley Chapter 30 Website.

First, I would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year!  As we embark on 2019, I am becoming increasingly excited about participating in the Arizona Nurses Association’s (AzNA) Centennial Celebration in September 2019!

Secondly, I thank our current members for their continued support and dedication to your professional organization.

To our new members, thank you for joining the American Nurses Association (ANA).  Your membership offers three tiers for one membership fee.  With your membership fee you are not only a member of the ANA, but also the AzNA (a constituent member of the ANA) and your local geographical chapter:  East Valley Chapter 30.

I am very proud of the accomplishments of the East Valley in the past year (September 2017-September 2018):

  • Hosted Members Meeting with Cocktail Reception at AzNA Convention in September 2017
  • Sponsored drawing at AzNA Convention for one new ANA Membership in September 2017.
  • Awarded $2500 in scholarships for Nursing Students and Nurses Continuing Education in September 2017 and March 2018
  • Awarded $1000 in scholarships foe Chapter Members Professional Development in September 2017 and March 2018.
  • Sponsored a table at the Student Nurses Association of Arizona Convention with drawing for ANA New Grad Membership in October 2017 and February 2018.
  • Hosted the End of Year Celebration at Macayo's to recognize our 5, 10, 15, 20, & 25-year members with door prizes in December 2017.
  • Sponsored the 4th Annual Renewal Retreat for Nurses in support of the Health Nurse, Healthy Nation Campaign in April 2018.
  • Hosted the 5K Fun Walk to kick off Nurses Week at Papago Park with drawing for $100 cash card in May 2018.
  • Hosted Members Meeting on the topic of Diversity in Nursing: Growing from New Grad to Novice to Clinical Expert with door prizes in May 2018.

Last December, East Valley and the Greater Phoenix Chapters joined forces in having a year-end celebration.  During this year-end celebration we honored those long-term members that have been dedicated to the association for 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 years!  We also introduced the following newly-elected board members during the celebration:

  • President:  Bill Adams;
  • Secretary:  Karen Chamberlain;
  • Director of Membership:  Shannon Campbell; and
  • Director of Education:  Alicia Shields.

I am very proud and humbled to have the opportunity to serve as president of the East Valley Chapter of the AzNA and take much comfort in being surrounded by such great leadership.

I want to thank the current and past board members for their continued support and consistent desire to promote the mission of the Arizona Nurses Association…Advancing the Nursing Profession and Promoting a Healthy Arizona through advocacy, public policy, and practice.

I would also like to especially give thanks to Kathy Wruk, immediate past-president, for her continued leadership and mentorship.  She has inspired me and I look forward to our continued relationship as she takes on a new role within the AzNA at the state-level.

Thank you to all of the members of the East valley Chapter for giving me the opportunity to serve you!
