Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) of Opioid Use Disorders (OUD) involves a combination of medications that targets the brain, and psychosocial interventions (e.g., counseling, skills development) aimed at improving treatment outcomes. Research shows that medications and therapy together may be more successful than either treatment method alone.
The training is being offered to MDs, DOs, NPs, PAs and others statewide:
- Physicians require 8 hours of training to apply for a waiver from the Drug Enforcement Agency to prescribe buprenorphine
- Nurse Practitioners (NP) and Physician Assistance (PA) are required to complete 24 hours of training. The 8 hour MAT training will count toward the 24 hours. The additional 16 hours can be completed on-line at https://pcssnow.org/education-training/mat-training/
- This course has been reviewed and is acceptable for 8.0 credits of AOA Category 1A by the AOA CCME.
- This course has also been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 8.00 Prescribed credit(s) by the American Academy of Family Physicians. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award.
Space is limited. $25.00 registration fee includes lunch.

Sign up for this 10 day challenge to curb your sweet tooth — or at least eat less sugar than you are currently. We’ve got some great daily tips to help you succeed.
You can do it!
Starts May 21. Sign up today!

AzNA and the American Nurses Association pause every year in memory of those nurses who have passed. If you know an Arizona nurse who has passed away in 2017, please send his/her first and last name, credentials, and month/year of passing (if known) to the AzNA Office at info@aznurse.org.

In 2016, CMS established the Rural Health Council to address three strategic aspects:
- Improving access to care for Americans living in rural settings;
- Supporting the unique economics of providing health care in rural America; and
- Ensuring that the health care innovation agenda fits rural health care markets.
Use these helpful resources to promote this Strategy and learn more about how you can help CMS make health care in rural America accessible, affordable, and accountable:
